Garland Communication, LLC is a full service small business management and consulting firm. We specialize in helping owners and principals maximize the growth and profit of their companies and enhance the communication and independence of their management teams. The goal is to allow owners to experience a business that can function and profit without their day to day involvement. We accomplish this by simplifying and focusing on the following:

Jim Garland is an entrepreneur, business owner, and author and business consultant. He started his company Sharp Details, Inc. from the trunk of his car as a boat cleaning service in 1991. In 1994, Jim repositioned his company in the aviation industry and now serves the flight departments of many top corporations in the world. Sharp Details, Inc. has grown into one of the premier companies of its kind in the United States. Operating in eight states throughout the East Coast, Sharp Details, Inc. employees over 60 people and cleans up to 400 aircraft per month. Sharp Details, Inc. is a long time member of the NBAA (National Business Aircraft Association) and Jim currently serves on the board as the Treasurer for the GWBAA (Greater Washington Business Aviation Association). Jim’s experience running a company that handles $40,000,000 aircraft, operates 24×7x365, and employees people in many different locations is what has given him the strategies and concepts that are described in his book.
An avid reader and student of self development, health and business concepts, Jim has compiled a library of books, tapes, and CDs on the subjects of entrepreneurship, financial freedom, wellness, the law of attraction, and success. This is what led Jim to develop Garland Communication, LLC and the concept and realization of his book The Practical Guide to Exceptional Living.
Jim graduated from Radford University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. He completed The E-Myth Mastery Program on entrepreneurship in 1999, and learned the process of business systems development. Jim attended the Strategic Coach® Program from 2001-2005 and learned the concepts that have given him the ability to have a business that runs without his day to day involvement and allows him to take off 10 weeks per year.
Jim currently lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife Carrie and his four children, Bayley, Ellie, Jack, and Benjamin. Jim enjoys spending time with his a family, traveling, surfing, golfing, staying in shape and cooking.
